Our Story
We didn't set out to build a compost business – we set our to build better soil for our own operation. What started with a focus on improving soil tilth and reducing erosion on the family's acreage grew into something much bigger.
Over time, other farmers took notice. They started asking about the methods, the compost, the results. And so, Gomes Compost was born: a soil-first services company built by a grower, for growers.
Why We Do It
We believe that healthy soil is the most underleveraged asset on the farm. It affects water retention, nutrient uptake, and long-term yield potential – yet it's often treated as an afterthought. At Gomes Compost, we treat it as the foundation.
